The investigation of skin lesions of overweight and obese patients in elaziğ and neighboring provinces

Obesity is defined as a disease that can lead to systemic, hormonal, metabolic, aesthetic, psychological and social problems. Obesity is a chronic disease which adversely effects the quality and length of life and one of the most important health problems of the developing world. Adipose tissue is not only a storage that provides accumulates the lipids, but also it is an organ that endocrine, metabolic and inflammatory signals are associated with each other. Insulin resistance of adipokines as leptin and resistin and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and proinflammatory cytokines as interleukin-6 (IL-6) and due to their effects on inflammation; are thought to play an important role skin physiology and pathophysiology. The data obtained from skin and skin adds of obese and overweight people comparing with the data obtained from body mass index (BMI) < 25 kg/m2 people and the impact of obesity on the health of a person's skin is to attract attention in Elazığ and neighboring provinces. In our study, over 18 years, 510 participants were enrolled. Participants were divided into three groups according to body mass index (BMI): <25,0 kg/m2 control group, 25,0 to 29,9 kg/m2, overweight group, ≥ 30,0 kg/m2 obese group were considered. Of the cases detailed dermatological examination was performed, the data were recorded. In all groups, the most common seven dermatoses were listed as respectively; stria distensae, plantar hyperkeratosis, dystrophic cellulite, acrochordon, acantosis nigricans, varicose veins and keratosis pilaris. Compared with obese and control group, between the BMI and; striae distanse, plantar hyperkeratosis, dystrophic cellulite, acrochordon, acanthosis nigricans, varicose veins, tinea pedis, lymphedema, hirsutism, onychomycosis, hidradenitis suppurativa, infective cellulite, androgenetic alopecia in women, androgenetic alopecia in men was found a positive correlation. In the study compared obese and control groups, keratosis pilaris, and psoriasis were no significant differences between the groups. Between acne and BMI was found negative correlation. Unlike previous studies, in our study; seborrheic keratosis, senile angioma, lentigines, congenital nevi, acquired nevi and nail findings were evaluated. When the obese and control groups are compared, in the great BMI group; seborrheic keratosis, senile angioma, lentigines was significantly higher. BMI and congenital nevi, acquired nevi and nail findings compared, between groups statistically significant relationship was not observed (p>0,005). In the study, acanthosis nigricans, varicose veins, hidradenitis suppurativa, furuncles, and intertrigo, when viewed in the absence of a significant difference between male and female gender; distanse striae, acne vulgaris and keratosis pilaris in women was statistically significantly higher. For the prevention of obesity-related dermatoses people refrain from excessive weight gain has concluded that significant.
