ABSTRACT Master Thesis TAXONOMIC INVESTIGATION OF OTTERS LUTRALUTRA (MAMMALIA: CARNIVORA) IN ELAZI? AND MALATYA REGIONS Figen Topal Firat University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Biology 2005, Page: 32 The skull (5 females and 4 males) and skin characteristics (4 females and 3 males) of Lutra Intra (Lutra Intra Linnaeus, 1758) obtained from different locations of Elazığ and Malatya regions have been examined. Mann-Whitney U test was used in comparison of morphology and biometric characteristics. It has been found that there was a statistical differences in term of skull characteristics, exorbital width and the length of upper molar teeth row in comparison of mean values of sex group (P<0.05).
