Özet (EN)

The aim of this study was to investigate the seroprevalance of Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever Virus (CCHFV) infection in the cattle and sheep in Elazig, Samsun, Sivas, Tokat and Yozgat provincesIn the study, a total of 100 cattle and 100 sheep, 20 cattle and 20 sheep from each province were used.Following systematic clinical examination of all the animals, their blood samples were obtained from a jugular vein into the vacummed and nonanticoagulant tubes for serologic and biochemical analysesBiochemical analysis was conducted with an autoanalyzer using commercial kits and serologic analysis with Capture IgG ELISA method.Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS for Windows (version 11,5). The differences between the groups were evaluated with independent pair t-test.From ELISA analysis, 17 cattle (17 %) and 37 sheep (37%) each out of 100 were detected as seropositive and the remaining 83 cattle (83%) and 63 sheep (63%) were seronegative. When the clinical parameters were evaluated, it was found that mean values of body temperature, respiratory, pulsation and rumen contraction rates in both seropositive cattle and sheep were not different statistically (p>0,05) as compared to those of the seronegative cattle and sheep.Considering biochemical parameters, mean values of serum ALT, AST, GGT and TBIL levels in both seropositive cattle and sheep were also determined to be statistically insignificant (p>0,05) in comparison with those of the seronegative cattle and sheep. In conclusion, the present study determined the seroprevalance of CCHFV infection as 17% in the cattle and 37% in the sheep. Nevertheless, the present study suggests that a broader studies are required to be performed on the role of CCHFV infection with regard to its epidemiology and transmission in domesticated farm animal of this country.Key Words: Cattle, Sheep, CCHFV, ELISA, Seroprevalance
