Turkish folk music is one of the most important oral and written cultural elements that include the cultural features of a region. Symbols used in folk songs, topics covered, emotions described; It gives very important ideas about the traditions, sociological characteristics and culture of the region. Turkish folk music is one of the elements that reflect the characteristics, history, traditions and customs of Turkish society in the best way possible. Folk songs that contain all human feelings and feelings are also values reflecting the cultural and socio-economic life of Turkish society. Elazığ-Harput songs have a very important place in Turkish Folk Music. Elazig-Harput region has an important place in Turkish culture because it is an old settlement and has many ethnic origins in it, and it has influenced many regions with its culture. The education of values, which includes many values such as love, respect, honesty, friendship, loyalty, justice, tolerance, humility, is included in the affective dimension of education. Teaching values education is not as easy as teaching cognitive goals; because the content of the ideal human values that should be relatively in society is materialized. One of the important sources of Turkish culture, folk songs; it is seen that the people convey their value judgments, lifestyle, suffering, joys, beliefs, veils and customs, traditions and customs from generation to generation. With the influence of the popular culture, in gaining value judgments with the content of the folk songs that the students are away from nowadays; It is thought that it can be effective in embodying the values with its melody. It is said that the affective dimension of education is at least as important as the cognitive dimension, as it is included in the general objectives of the Turkish National Education system. Elazig-Harput folk songs, one of the outstanding examples of folk literature, were examined in terms of values such as love, respect, patience, loyalty, tolerance, and it was thought that it could give students a functional dimension in transferring their values education. Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge course aims to raise generations that are responsible, sensitive to social events, aware of their cultural values and make them live. One of the main factors that enable society to exist and maintain its existence is to preserve its values and transfer it from generation to generation. For this purpose, a relationship has been established with the subjects that can be used in the Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge lesson and in transferring the values that are frequently required in life. This study aims to reveal whether value education is possible in Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge course by using folk songs and the effect of folk songs in value education. In order to explain this situation, in the Introduction part of the study, information about the Elazig-Harput region on physical, social, economical and musical subjects has been given, folk songs and values are mentioned in the first part. In the second part, values in folk songs belonging to Elazig-Harput region were determined and information about their use in Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge course was given. In the conclusion part, the data obtained as a result of the study were evaluated in general.
