Ill ABSTRACT MASTER THESIS DETERMINATION OF CERTAIN TRACE ELEMENTS BY SPECTROSCOPIC METHODS IN BLOOD SERUM OF CHILDREN WHO ARE CONGENITAL HEART DISEASES IN ELAZI? REGION Oya GÖKÜSTÜN Firat University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciencies Department of Chemistry 2005; Page; 51 In this study, Fe, Mg, Ca, Cu, Zn, elements by using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry(FAAS), Se, Co, Ni, Cd, Mo, Mn, elements by using ICP- Atomic Emission Spectrophotometry(ICP-AES), K ve Na elements by using Flame Atomic Emission Spectrophotometry(FAES) in the blood serum of children who are congenital heart disease(Disease Group : DG) and healty children(Control Group : CG) in Elazığ region, were determined. When the levels of trace element in blood serum of disease and control groups were statistically compared each other.it was observed that Fe(HG:9.61±1.45mg/L, KG:2.66+0.72mg/L) and Cu(HG:2.28±0.64mg/L, KG:1.31±0.42mg/L had significantly increased)(p<0.001), Se(HG:7.54±2.29ug/L, KG:85.42±16.59ug/L) and Zn(HG:0.59±0.19mg/L, KG:1.14±0.21mg/L) had significantly decreased)(p<0.001), Cd(HG:0.18±0.06ug/L, KG:0.33±0.12ug/L)(p<0.005), Co(HG:0.17±0.08ug/L, KG:0.29±0.08ug/L), Mn(HG:1.08±0.30ug/L, K:1.17±0.38ug/L), Na(HG:1072.18±309.69mg/L, KG:1583.32±563.90mg/L) had insignificantly decreased)(p<0.05).It was observed that not changed in the levels of Ni(HG:1.46±0.49ug/L, KG:1.75±0.64ug/L), Mo(HG:2.46±0.90jag/L, KG:1.93±0.41ug/L), Ca(HG:108.75+35.09mg/L, KG:115.52±26.92mg/L) and Mg(HG:31.79±8.60mg/L, KG:28.24±10.46mg/L) between disease and control groups(p>0.05).
