The comparison of anxiety in 18-50 age patients, performed elective plasti̇c ve reconstructive operations and other operations

Anesthesia and surgery are processes that can always be experienced by human being all the negative thoughts and feelings like excited, tension, anxiety, fear, worry and saddness. Anxiety is a feeling that is difficult to explain that it includes one or most of the excitements like despair, annoyonce, fear, the sense of failure, inability, not being able to know the result, and being tried. Pre-operative evaluation involves the patients story which is taken, lab tests and determination of risk in anesthesia. Preoperative preparation has many purposes. But the removal of anxiety is the most important of them. Anxiety adversely affects to surgery and anesthesia. There are many cause-related anxiety in patients in the preoperative period. According to others, in some types of surgery, more anxiety may occur. In this study, comparing of the anxiety of the patients sheduled for elective plastic and reconstructive operation (rhinoplasti, abdominoplasti, mammoplasti) which is applied to the patients between the ages of 18 and 50 and the anxiety of the patients sheduled for surgery for other reasons (thyroidectomy, arthroscopy, inguinal hernia) at similar grades is performed. Patients have been asked to respond STAI I and STAI II test that always measure state and trait anxiety. STAI I and STAI II values in the plastic surgery patients which is significantly lower than other surgery oparation. Key Words: Preoperative Anxiety,Anxiety in Plastic Surgery
