Legal concept of electricity sector anda abuse of dominant position in competition law

Reform movement in electrical industry which initialed in the last quarter of the past century and which extended throughout the world recently, has brought about SOlne problems. One of these problems is the competition-corrupting manner. The biggest source and the proof of such manner is the dominant position owned. This thesis basically reviews the operation of electrical market, dominant situation in electrical sector as regards competition law and the misuse of this situation. It has been concluded that regulatory authorities shall monitor markets in an effective manner and the cooperation between the Competition Authority and Energy Market Regulatory Authority shall be clarified in order to deal with this problem. Besides, this thesis also tries to explain basic information about market design for a better understanding of re-structuring and liberalization process and the operating mechanism of electrical markets
