Nowadays automotive industry tends to electric vehicles in order to save fuel, decline air pollution, reduce carbon emission due to decline of petroleum reserves on the world. Technological developments on the battery and power systems accelerated the studies in the electric vehicle industry and a lot of car company has produced electric vehicles and still working on it. Until today, different types of electric motors has used on electric vehicles. This motors differ when compared in terms of their efficiency, cost, performance and energy consumption. This differences base on electric motors used in electric vehicles. In this study, it is aimed to select one of the motors which are induction motor and permanent magnet synchronous motor used in an electric vehicle in order to use the motor which is more efficient and have less energy consumption depending on the vehicle's speed during the traffic. In accordance with this purpose, a simulation on Matlab/Simulink software has performed using the mathematical models of electric motors. Vehicle's speed is determined by using the traffic information and the more efficient and have less energy consumption motor is selected.
