Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine whether there is a role of attention deficit, hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in individuals who have had electric bicycle and motorcycle accidents in our society. In our study, we aimed to investigate the effects of ADHD on electric bicycle and motorcycle accidents. June 2023 – All patients over the age of 18 who applied to Pamukkale University emergency department due to electric bicycle or motorcycle accident between January 2024 were included in this study. For comparison purposes, 250 healthy individuals were included in the control group. TURGAY DSM-IV YDB/TDÖ form was applied to all patients. In addition, age, gender, educational status, marital status, alcohol and cigarette use, work status, driver's license status, motor volume used and frequency of motor use, and injury Severity Score [Injury Severity Score (lSS)] scores were recorded to the Abreviated Injury Scale (AIS) and injury severity score. The patient and control group included in the study consists of 41 (16.4%) women and 209 (83.6%) men. The mean age of the patient group was found to be 28.28 and the mean age of the control group was 29.89 (p>0.050). While there was a between the ages of 18 and 22, the patient group over the age of 35 had the lowest distribution with 20.8% and there was a categorically significant difference (p=0.024). 52% of the patient group were high school graduates, 25.2% were university graduates; 34.8% of the control group were high school graduates, 49.6% were university graduates and there was a significant difference (p=0.000). 54% of the patient group, 71.2% of the control group did not drink alcohol, and 2.8% of the patient group and 2% of the control group used alcohol every day (p=0.001). Attention deficit disorder was significantly higher in the participants in the patient group (4.06±4.43) compared to the patient group (3.47±3.90) (p=0.024). There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in excessive movement, impulsivity, ADHD-related characteristics and ADHD total score (p>0,05). There was no significant difference between ADHD and gender, alcohol and cigarette use, AIS and ISS scores (p>0.050). As a result, it has been revealed that the lack of attention in individuals involved in electric bicycle and motorcycle accidents is closely related to such accidents. When attention deficit was taken into account, hyperactivity in the ADHD sub-dimension was significantly higher in the patient group.
