Abstract (EN)
In this study, it has been investigated whether the concentrations of catecholaminergic neurotransmitters change in the brain tissues of adult male rats exposure to electromagnetic field (EMF) through the GSM signal source in a plexiglas cage.For this purpose, EMF was performed to Wistar rats at 900 and 1800 MHz frequencies. Brains were gently removed from all animals and cortex, hippocampus, striatum and hypothalamus tissues were dissected and homogenized with HCL acid. The concentrations of noradrenaline, dopamine and their metabolites were detected with high performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detector system. Catecholamine levels in EMF performed groups were significantly elevated compared to control group.The increase in catecholamine levels in rat brains shows that EMF exposure may cause negative effects on motor activity, learning, memory and behavior functions.
