Abstract (EN)
It is thought that there is a positive relationship between economy and public finance literacy and the growth and development of the economy and finance sector. In a society of individuals with high levels of economic and financial literacy, it can be said that individuals are more consciously involved in the economy. Therefore, it can be stated that conscious individuals contribute to the development of the economy and the financial sector. In this study, it is aimed to determine the level of economic and financial literacy of university students. In this study, the students of Sakarya University - Faculty of Political Sciences is selected as the sample. In this study, the current status of the students economic and financial knowledge levels were determined and suggestions were made to overcome their deficiencies. In this study, one of the most commonly used techniques in social sciences is used. The survey included main questions that would reveal the economic and financial literacy of the students. Questions about demographic information are also included in the survey. The data obtained from the survey is analyzed through SPSS program. The results are explained with the help of graphs and tables. The main question of this study is "Are university students literate in economics and finance?". The determination of a person's literacy on any subject can be revealed by evaluating the answers of the person by asking them questions about the most basic things related to the subject. In this study, in order to determine the literacy of economy and finance, questions were asked about the basic concepts of both general economy and finance. As a results of this study, it is determined that male students follow current economic developments more than female students. When the conceptual knowledge is evaluated according to departments, it is determined that the students of the public finance department know the concepts better than the other departments.
