Abstract (EN)

As a consequence of petrographic analyses, it is observed that, the part of the Kastamonu granitoids in the study area, Elmalıçay Granitoid, is represented by the mylonitic granite, cataclastic granite, granodiorite, mica bearing granite and gneiss lithologies. Elmalıçay Granitoid in the study area was exposed to the metamorphism. It is thought that the faults in the study area are the source for this mylonitic effect. This has a positive effect to feldspar enrichment.Concerning of the geochemical evaluations, according to samples collected from the study area, Elmalıçay Granitoid, depending on its ?total alkali-slica content?, is composed of subalkali rocks and according to its ?alumina and iron content? it is composed of calc-alkali characterized rocks.Total alkali values (Na2O+K2O) of the collected samples range between 5,3-9,6%. Predominantly, this value is around 7%. Regarding the results of chemical analysis there are three main problems. These are; the lower rate of Al2O3, the higher level of fire loss and the higher SiO2 rate. These results indicate that there is material suitable to be used as masse raw material in the manufacturing of the floor square ceramics. The different utility areas in the ceramics sector can be enhanced by obtaining a standard chemical composition by means of making the material homogeneous during the production.
