The political crisis of the Umayyads after Hisam b. Abdulmelik

The Umayyad State ruled Islamıc lands for nearly ninety years. In the process, fourteen caliohs came to power. Each caliph had its own policy and form of government. The various rebellions that have arisen over the course of time have often put the administration in a difficult position. However, when we come to the years 744-745, we see that the attitude of the administration comes to the fore rather than the events. On the date in question, the rebellions evolved into a power struggle that took place within the administration itself. The fights and rebellions that started in this period became uncontrollable over time. Thus the weakening of the centralauthority of the state has accelerated. The weakened Umayyad State collapsed at the end of these corrosive processes. A number of events took place with the coming to power of Walid ibn Yazid, the first caliph of this period. As a result of Yazid ibn Walid's reaction to the revolution, political and administrative crises have arisen. With the death of Yazid b Walid without control in all parts of the state, the crisis was further magnified by the caliphate of Ibrahim b Walid. With Marwan ibn Muhammad's dismissal of Caliph Ibrahim through a revolution, a crisis of governance has now occurred in the state. This politically motivated crisis has led toa loss of control in the administration. With in the framework of the disappearing administration, the collapse of the state has also accelerated. The beginning of another one before the effects of the events have passed has deepened the crises. In the last part of our study, we have determined that there are some principles that are used in the functioning of the administration of the Umayyad State. We have obversed that these principles are very decisive in the functioning of the administration. We have seen that these principles, which have an important role, continue in the state administration under the headings of tradition, customs and traditions. In the last part of our research, we have identified what are the basic principles that are important.
