An analyse about historical novels of Emine Işınsu

In the present study, we reviewed four novels written by Emine Işınsu (AkTopraklar, Bayram, Bukağı and Cumhuriyet Türküsü), which are of historicalcharacteristics, and studied on them in terms of events, characters, locations and time.Based on the definitions of historical novels, we included in the current study the novelsin which the historical events were not observed by the author of the novel, the eventstold in it were close to the reality and expressed in an artistic way.Historical novel is not a reflection of the past but is re-interpretation of the past byreconstructing the history. Adhered to this definition, Emine Işınsu approached to thepast with both the current and past philosophies of life and presented the historicalevents, heroes, time and locations in a way suitable for the atmosphere of the age of thenovel. In her novel Ak Topraklar, Malazgirt Triumph which opens the door of Anatoliato Turks was presented under historical reality. Her last novels Bayram and Bukağımentioned life and doctrines of two major Turkish thinkers, Hacı Bayram Veli andNiyazi Mısrî. Her novel Cumhuriyet Türküsü tells the strong excitement andenthusianism of National Combat. Time and location consisting of social realities wereintegrated to historical and fictitious heroes.
