The Sources of stress in the police department

SUMMARY In addition that the stress appears in front of us as an inevitable fact of life all the history of humanity long; current developed industry societies cause more stress in the society and business lives in contrast to the previous terms. Because the twentieth century made the people accelerate and necessitate an activeness in a great deal of range in contrast to the previous years. It's inevitable for the people who maintain their lives in such circumstances to come face to face with stress which is the fact of age. According to the most of the investigations made, it's confirmed that the police occupation is one of the most social stress loaded profession groups among all the profession groups. In this investigation, "The Sources of Stress in The Police Department" (KEYWORDS) has been tried to investigate by applying a measure used in Nevşehir Police Department. In the first section of the search, the concept of stress was defined, the studies in relation to stress was summarized and the causes of stress were touched on. In the second section, among all the profession groups, the definitions in relation to the police occupation which has got the most social stress were made and some information were given about the social stress sources which are faced in the Police Department. In the practice section of the investigation, under the light of the datas obtained from 51 officers and 184 functional unit workers in Nevşehir Police Department by using the inquiry method The frequency of being seen of the sources of social stress in the police department on the workers was fixed by using statistical analyses. Moreover the symptoms of the stress which is seen on the workers were investigated. The Result of the investigation; it's seen that the workers of the Police Department one under the load of stress even if they aren't stressed at a disturbing level. Furthermore it's exposed that there is an important difference in the respect of stress between the functional unit workers and officers. Related to the causes of stress, the symptoms of psychological stress is being seen more than the other symptoms. XI
