Effect of empathy?s ability on moral behaviors

260 students who are studying at 5th grade in İstanbul joined this research which has the purpose to find out the effect of exposure of empathy?s ability on moral behaviors. ?Scale of Empathy?s Ability? is developed by Bryant(1982) and translated to Turkish by Yılmaz-Yüksel(2003) is used as an instrument of data collection. And there are also 6 measures which are ?Scale of Equitable Behavior?, ?Scale of Trust Behavior?, ?Scale of Tolerant Behavior?, ?Scale of Uncomplaining Behavior?, ?Scale of Benevolent Behavior? and ?Scale of Respectfult Behavior? devoloped by researcher for measuring moral behaviors .According to pupose of research, whether significant differences between levels of empathy?s ability of students and levels of moral behaviors of students and their levels of sub-dimensions are examined by gender. In here, difference of means is tested by t test for all scales and their sub-dimensions. All scales and their sub-dimensions which are compared their scores by gender and empathy?s ability are so: ?Scale of Trust Behavior? (Trust Behavior), ?Scale of Equitable Behavior? (Equitable Behavior) and its sub-dimensions (?No Selfish Behaviors?, ?Custodial Care of People?) , ?Scale of Tolerant Behavior? (Tolerant Behavior) and its sub-dimensions (?Tolerating People?s Mistakes and Preference?, ?Understanding People?) ?Scale of Uncomplaining Behavior? (Uncomplaining Behavior) and its sub-dimensions (?Self Control?, ?Being patient towards People?), ?Scale of Respectfult Behavior? (Respectfult Behavior) and its sub-dimensions (?Counting People?, ?Gentility to Pepople?), ?Scale of Benevolent Behavior? (Benevolent Behavior) and its sub-dimensions (?Boost to Standing of Asist?, ?Dealing to Standing of Asist?, ?Care to Standing of Asist? ).According to results of research, there are significant differences between levels of empathy?s ability of students with levels of moral behaviors of students and its levels of sub-dimensions. There isn?t a significant difference between levels of empathy?s ability of students by their gender. There are significant differences between Scale of Equitable Behavior (Equitable Behavior) of students and its sub-dimension which is ?No Selfish Behaviors? by their gender. There are significant differences between Scale of Benevolent Behavior of students and its sub-dimension which is ?Boost to Standing of Assist? by their gender. However, there aren?t significant differences between other scales of moral behaviors and its sub-dimensions.
