Abstract (EN)
In this thesis study, endemic Hypericum aviculariifolium Jaub. et Spach and Hypericum Bithynicum Boiss. The morphological, anatomical, chemical and antimicrobial properties of the species were investigated and examined in terms of pharmaceutical botany. In morphological studies, detailed examination of the species was made. Stem, leaf and flower measurements were compared with the descriptions given in the flora of Turkey. In anatomical studies, cross-sections from the stem, cross-sections and superficial sections from the leaf were taken and their anatomical structures were examined. In chemical studies, the above-ground extracts of the species were studied in solvents containing water and methanol, and the total phenolic substance amounts were determined. Determination of the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil radical (DPPH●) scavenging effect of the species and 2,2'-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid radical cation (ABTS●+) scavenging effect and antioxidant properties, high Phenolic compounds were investigated by pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC). According to chemical results, antioxidant activity and total phenolic substance content of H. aviculariifolium methanol extract is higher than that of H. bithynicum . (ABTS●+) scavenging effect increases in direct proportion to the concentrations of the extracts. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of the extracts showing antimicrobial activity were determined by microdilution method. CLSI (formerly NCCLS) M27-A2 liquid microdilution protocol was used to determine the anticandidal effect. When comparing the antimicrobial results of the extracts, it was revealed that all of the extracts showed stronger antifungal effects.
