Industry 4.0 maturity model: index and evaluation for Turkey

Abstract (EN)

In this study, Industry 4.0 maturity index was calculated by using the structural equation model and analytical hierarchy process methods. A development procedure including three different stages was carried out in the study. To ensure a full understanding of the Industry 4.0 field, a literature search has been conducted, including countries' Industry 4.0 policies and recommendations, industry studies, and academic research. Then a versatile method was then used, consisting of a development phase to design and test the structure of the model, and finally an implementation phase to verify it in real-life practice. In the study, firstly, a systematic literature search and review was conducted to create a maturity model. Then, conceptual modeling were carried out in the light of the information in the literature and expert interviews. The conceptual model was validated, and factor weights of measurement variables of each dimension were determined. For this, the structural equation model was used in light of the data obtained from 149 firms through surveys. In the last part of the study, the practice was carried out in three different companies in the automotive industry. For this activity, it has been predicted that the dimensions of the industry 4.0 maturity model may have different weights for each sector. The analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method, which is a multi-criteria decision-making technique with expert opinions from the automotive industry, was used in determining the weights of the dimensions.
