Industry 4.0 technologies and circular economy impact on sustainable business performance application in the elevator industry

This study aims to determine the relationship between Industry 4.0 Technologies and Circular Economy and to investigate the effects of these concepts on Sustainable Performance. The effect of Industry 4.0 Technologies and Circular Economy on Sustainable Performance has been analyzed by literature review and survey study. A total of 55 questions including Yes/No, Multiple Choice and 5-point Likert-Type questions were asked to 2772 elevator companies across Turkey and a 10.9% response was obtained. The obtained data were evaluated and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling. As a result of the analysis, a positive and significant relationship was determined between the Circular Economy and Sustainable Performance and between the Circular Economy and Industry 4.0 Technologies. In the study, it was also determined that Industry 4.0 Technologies had a positive and significant effect on Sustainable Performance through the Circular Economy, with the indirect analysis method. According to the results obtained, it would be appropriate for businesses that want to increase their Sustainable Performance to implement the Circular Economy first and then Industry 4.0 Technologies.
