The reflectıons of the transformatıons in urban space on painting from industrial revolutıon to today

Throughout the history, cities used to be habitats in which people obtain subsistence requirements. However, with the dawn of the Industrial Revolution, they underwent a social, physical, and economical change processes. Whereas the cities are subject to a perpetual change, urbanization also acquired new forms through industrialization and technological and scientific developments. These developments have affected the cities both physically and socially and thus the concept of city stands in need of a new description. Changing and transforming cities are loosing their historical memory, and the uniformity imposed by this process deeply affects artists. The transformations to which the cities are subjected, also affect artists, and artists began to express these processes. Artists reflect various feelings such as melancholia, dullness, and loneliness which are created by the facts of destruction, transformation, alienation, and the loss of identity which are the outcomes of the physical and social transformations that take place in cities. Thus, the ever-changing, ever-transforming city has become an important artistic theme.
