Transformation of industrial heritage structures; Büyükdere-Nectar Brewery example

In this study, the concept of industrial heritage and its functional issues are examined on the basis of transformation criteria through the example of Büyükdere-Nektar Brewery. Transformation criteria have been taken into account in terms of both environmental, economic, social and cultural aspects and have been evaluated in line with structure and component analysis. In terms of conservation approach, industrial heritage has been examined based on the historical process of functioning the building. For this purpose, the characteristics of the building and its functionalization were evaluated within the scope of the first usage project of Büyükdere-Nektar Brewery, the housing project in 1985, the survey project and the restoration project started and completed after 2018. The functions that have changed, preserved and added together with the functionalization study of Büyükdere-Nektar Brewery have been detailed, and determinations have been made according to both the first use project and the 1985 lodging project. Accordingly, the first and most important change in the building was the 1985 project to use the right section of the building as a residence. However, until this period, many repairs were made in the structure due to the damage to the hardware features. The purpose of use of the building for the hospital project is explained within the floor plans shown on the drawings. In accordance with the purpose, many applications such as demolition and reconstruction of additional walls, renewal of building components for all floors have been carried out. It is aimed to preserve the architectural features of the period in which it was built. However, in addition to these situations, serious changes in the structure have developed as a necessity. This was examined both during the strengthening works and within the plan. During the implementation of the project, its requirements were interpreted and the main effects of intervention difficulties were stated. Accordingly, the functionalization of the industrial heritage was examined in line with the transformation criteria after the restoration project and general evaluations were made.
