Abstract (EN)

This thesis will reveal how the choice between fiber optic cables or traditional copper cables has significant effects on a company's network infrastructure or military applications where security is a paramount importance. While copper cables have been a popular choice for many years due to their affordability and widespread availability, fiber optic cables offer several advantages in terms of speed, reliability, safety and carbon footprint. Generally, the decision to use fiber optic cable over copper cables depends on the specific needs and priorities of a company or military application. Although the initial investment cost is higher than copper cables, the long-term benefits in terms of speed, reliability and safety make fiber optic cables the more advantageous choice. In this thesis, a Cable Selection Analyzer (KSA) was developed, which allows to choose between fiber optic cable and copper cable according to certain criteria. With this application tool, it is provided to suggest the most suitable cable type by means of an interface for choosing between fiber optic cable and copper cable.
