Abstract (EN)
The global crisis that arises in the second half of the twentieth century and the world?schanging stability causes a displacement of heavy industry from the geography of developedcommunities to the third world countries. The industrial areas inside the cities that remainfrom the secession of production, play an important role with their reuse in the process ofrestructuring the cities. By the coming on the scene of industrial archaelogy discipline,industrial areas are accepted as cultural heritage, so they are conserved and they arerepresented to the usage by transforming with the studies around this discipline.In the world cases of transformation of industrial areas, basic transformation strategies are;providing the disappearance of the damage that causes in the city, integrating the region keptclear of town in the process of production with the city, while achieving these strategies thetransference of industrial heritage to the next generations is to be provided accurate by visualand empirical. It is also aimed industrial areas contribute to the advertisement of town at theintercity competition and to the social environment. Despite efforts of conserving andmonumentalizing the structure at the transformation cases in Turkey, there is no fact of wholeprotection with all apparatus of the structures because of nonestablished discipline ofindustrial archaeology.Many old industrial instutions founded at and by the reason geographical characteristic itowns, Istanbul?s Beykoz district seems it has an important potential because of contribution tothe city while if it is assessed with the environmental history of Beykoz?s industrial heritages.Expired Beykoz Shoe and Leather Factory is an important industrial archaeology area with its200 year past and it is placed an important point that the city meets with water. By evaluatingthe factory area with Beykoz shoreline, historical areas and the other old industrial areas, thetransformation scenario predicting put into cultural string, should turn that area into the one ofthe focal point of the city.Keywords: Transformation of industrial areas, industrial archaeology, Beykoz Shoe andLeather FactoryJURY:1.
