Environmental risk analysis of industrial wastewater treatment plant; example of Isparta

Environmental risk assessment has been conducted for an industrial wastewater treatment plant. The environmental risk analysis aims to identify, evaluate, and manage the potential hazards associated with the treatment of wastewater generated from various industrial processes.This method enables the identification of various environmental risk factors and the assessment of their severity. Particularly, it is crucial for prioritizing various environmental risks and identifying those requiring urgent intervention. The environmental risk analysis conducted using the L-type matrix method in industrial wastewater treatment plants assists in identifying potential risks at each stage of wastewater treatment processes. This facilitates the implementation of appropriate measures to prevent or minimize environmental risks that may arise during the operation of wastewater treatment plants. In this way, environmental risk analysis conducted in industrial wastewater treatment plants contributes to improving the environmental performance of the facilities and minimizing their environmental impacts. It also serves as an important tool for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and protecting public health. Therefore, regular environmental risk analysis and the use of the L-type matrix method are essential in industrial wastewater treatment plants. In this study, the risks that may occur in the wastewater treatment plant have been identified, their probabilities and severities have been analyzed, and a risk assessment has been conducted by adding the environmental dimension to the matrix method. The environmental risk has been analyzed by comparing the matrix method and the risk assessment method that incorporates the environmental dimension. This analysis evaluates the significance of implementing occupational safety and environmental risk policies in wastewater treatment plants.
