The structure and working of strategic puchasing management and an international company application

Purchasing function deals with obtaining the materials and services with the right quality, in the right quantity, at the right price, from the right source and at the right time.In this thesis, purchasing management and purchasing applications were studied. The theoretical develeopment of the concept and examples in business enterprises were explained.In the first section of the thesis study, purchasing and supplying functions, its importance to the companies, the development of purchasing and its usage as a main tool to reduce enterprice costs were explained.After these theoretical sections, an example of a global company in automotive and white goods industry was selected and Purchasing and Supply management, purchasing process, the development of the application, the changes in purchasing organization currently existing in company and the effects on the overall process was evaluated.For conclusion, with the data obtained from literature, previous studies and company applications, it is observed that purchasing is one of the most important function for reducing the cost of companies.
