Abstract (EN)

Despite becoming a subject area that has attracted increasing interest from various disciplines in recent years, many industrial heritage structures today still lack legal protection status and most area at risk of disappearing. This situation highlights the shortcomings in the preservation and evaluation of industrial heritage, underscoring the need for more comprehensive and qualified studies in this field. This study analyzes the Niksar Ayvaz Spring Water Facility, located in the Niksar district of Tokat province, from an industrial heritage perspective. This facility was the first example of water bottling (packaging) activities in the region in an industrial sense. Although the facility has lost its functionality in terms of production today, evaluates the regional water source, it bears witness to the period it belongs to, reflects Turkey's technological developments and industrial production history of the 1970s, bears traces of the use of water in production processes, applies modern production techniques, has architectural value and qualities, carries local production cultural value and serves as a historical document due to the data it provides on industrial history. Therefore the main purpose of this study is to analyze the historical, architectural and industrial values of the Niksar Ayvaz Spring Water Facility, document its unique spatial and structural qualities from an architectural history perspective and raise awareness about the need to preserve this data using scientific approaches and pass it on to future generations. In this context, the Niksar Ayvaz Spring Water Facility has been evaluated in light of its current status based on literature sources, on-site observations and investigations, archival research, old and new photographs, interviews conducted and proposal survey-restoration drawings. The findings reveal that the Niksar Ayvaz Spring Water Facility, which offers important clues within the scope of industrial heritage, is an example of a significant water bottling facility that is currently facing the threat of extinction for various reasons. In this regard, it is important to document the sustainability of this industrial heritage and its significance in terms of architectural history.
