Investigation of suitable structural system alternatives in industrilized milking cow farm buildings

The general planning, in terms of their functions, of the structures of cow barns and additional facilities emerged with the development of industrilized milking cow breeding in the XX. and XXI. centuries, together with the research and evaluation for some suitable structural system alternatives for one of the most important structures, the milking cow barn, taking into consideration its functions and the related needs, are two topics undertaken in this thesis.Some planning has to be done in the industrilized milking cow breeding facilities, in order to be able to improve the productivity and hygiene conditions, with a good evaluation of their physical structure, functions and comfort conditions. The development of that planning with the right structural systems is another important issue. A general cost evaluation will be made by working on different structural systems appropriate to the needs.This research and evaluation study is composed of five chapters. In the introduction, which is the first chapter, the objectives and the scope of the research are explained, together with the methods used throughout the study.In chapter two; besides a general information about the industrilized milking cow breeding, site plans of this kind of facilities and the schemes of the sub-units that form the complete structure are defined, sustained by examples at home and abroad.In the third chapter of the research; the milking cow barn, which is one of the important components of the industrilized milking cow breeding facilities, is approached in a more elaborated way. The repercussions of the planning resulting from the inner functions and the connections between the buildings are studied. Also, the impact of different structural systems analysis on the dimensioning of the elements and its impact on the costs are examined.In the fourth chapter, a comparison between different carrier systems is made in terms of cost and applicability.In the fifth chapter of the research, which is the conclusion, a cost evaluation is done for the structural systems with a long span resulting from the functions and the other conditions emphasized, in the milking cow barn built in the industrilized milking cow breeding facilities, according to the findings reached throughout the study.
