Abstract (EN)

In the last 50 years, Turkey's energy need has increased from %19 to %74. The 32% of the total energy consumption which causes the energy need, originate from residences. In the Mediterranean climate region, where the number of cooling required days are higher and more costly in comparison to the number of heating degree days, the most intensive energy consumption in buildings originate from the cooling load. The first approach was to achieve energy efficiency in hot climate region Adana, by improving the design of two multi-storey dwellings project with dynamic energy simulation. Through testing the energy consumptions of the buildings on Energy Plus based DesignBuilder software, the design was tried to be enriched and to be improved. ~17% of energy saving was achieved by reducing the cooling load from 95.000kWh to 78.751kWh with having orientations according to computed surrounding building shadowings, selecting optimum structure components and insulation materials, minimizing transparent areas.The cost of energy consumption which was $13,350 was withdrawn to $11,070. The second approach was to create Energy Identity Certification via national energy analyzing software, Bep-TR. Although the cooling load was high and the cooling energy level was low, according to the relevant regulation, the overall energy class based on the total amount of consumption and carbon dissemination was considered valid. Intagration of international design techniques and technologies into practice, defining each physical condition separately in national laws and regulations like standarts, and supporting effective implementations by financial incentives have been proposed for sustainability and energy efficiency.
