Phenotypical and genotypical investigation of resistance to antibioticsinhibiting protein synthesis of infectious bacteroides isolates

Abstract (EN)

1. ABSTRACT AIM: Bacteroides fragilis group (BFG) bacteria, which constitute an important part of colon microbiota, are most commonly isolated in anaerobic infections. The aim of this study; to determine the susceptibility profile of BFG bacteria, isolated in the microbiology laboratory of Marmara University Pendik Training and Research Hospital, against to tetracycline, tigecycline, clindamycin and chloramphenicol antimicrobials. We also planned to investigate the presence of resistance genes for these antimicrobials in the BFG isolates. METHOD: This study eighty three clinical specimens were examined for isolation of the BFG group bacteria in Medical Microbiology Laboratory between the 2017 betwen 2018. The isolates identification of the sensitivity profiles against antimicrobials inhibiting protein synthesis Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute accepts (CLSI,2007) referance method by the dilution method in the agar indicated in the M11- A7 document. Additionally, the presence of 6 genes encoding antibiotic resistance was determined by PCR. CONCLUSİONS: The most of in isolated from deep seated abscess (n=32), abscess (n=4), blood (n=14), tissue (n=14) the frequency of isolation of different BFG group bacteria from various clinical specimens The isolated were identified MALDI-TOF MS methods. Antibiotic resistance rates against to, tetracyclin and clindamycin resistance genes; tetX (n=33), tetQ (n=41), tetX1 (n=14), tet36 (n=22), tetM (n=26), ermF (n=47) positive found. RESULT: The analyzed environmental BFG strains were highly resistant to the tested antibiotics. Clindamycin antibiotics not resistance phenotypical isolates is (n=11) ermF; tetracycline in antibiotics tetX (n=1), tetQ (n=3), tetX1 (n= 2), tet36 (n=1), tetM (n=3) silent genes. As a result antibiotic stewardship and infection control is very important in the are of multidrug-resistance and lack of development new antimicrobial agents KEYWORDS: BFG bacteria, clindamycin,tetracyclin, cholarmfenicol,clindamycin
