Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the problems of the families with disabled children, especially the social exclusion problem that affects and / or prevent their participation in social life, and also to investigate the effect of the type of disability on the social life of the disabled family and whether there is a difference between the types of disability in terms of the participation of families in social life. At the same time, the social exclusion of families with disabled individuals in terms of institutional, socio-economic and psychosocial aspects and the change of this exclusion in the society over time and the expectations of the families for the future are examined. In the first part of the study, the concept of disability, types of disability and social exclusion are discussed in the conceptual framework, and in the second part, the role of social awareness and education in the meaning of the situation of disabled individuals and families is studied. In the third section, information about the method of the study is given and the fourth section consists of the findings section. The study was carried out with the parents of the disabled students who continued their education in İlk Arzum Special Education and Rehabilitation Center in Çorum. The data were collected by applying in-depth interview form. As a result of the interviews, it was seen that disabled individuals and their families were exposed to social exclusion in various ways in their participation in social life.
