Investigating the Attitudes of Adults Aged 18-30 With Disabled Siblings to Marriage. The purpose of this study is investigate the relationship between the attitudes toward marriage of siblings of individual with disability and some variables. In this study for describe relationship between attitudes toward marriage of siblings of individuals with disability and some variables was used one of the descriptive research methods is survey method. The study group was formed from 65 female and 55 male -total 120 participants- who have a disability sibling, between 18-30 years old, unmarried, normally developed. Research was carried out some special education school and special special education and rehabilitation centers in İzmir. Data was collected with "Attitudes Toward Marriage Scale" developed, validity and reliability studies by Ertuğrul (2008) and developed by the researcher for the purpose of gathering information about some of the variables "Personal Information Form". Evaluation of the data, percentage distributions was shown and Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test was applied for the understanding of the scale scores normal distribution or not, Mann-Whitney-U Test was applied for comparison of the two groups and Kruskal-Wallis Test was applied for compare the group of three or more. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software version 15.0. As a result of the analysis of data; ? Attitudes toward marriage of female siblings of individuals with disability are more negative than attitudes toward marriage of male siblings of individuals with disability. (p<0.05). ? Attitudes toward marriage of cohabiting parents of participants are more positive than attitudes toward marriage of living apart parents of participants (p<0.05). ? Attitudes toward marriage of siblings of individuals with severe disability are more negative than attitudes toward marriage of siblings of individuals with moderate and mild disability (p<0.05). ? Attitudes toward marriage of siblings of individuals with moderate disability are more negative than attitudes toward marriage of siblings of individuals with mild disability (p<0.05). ? Attitudes toward marriage of the oldest siblings in the all siblings are more negative than attitudes toward marriage of the not oldest siblings in the all siblings (p<0.05). ? Attitudes toward marriage of participants who are taking care of disabled sibling are more negative than attitudes toward marriage of participants who are not taking care of disabled sibling (p<0.05). ? Attitudes toward marriage of participants who are interested in with disabled sibling?s education are more negative than attitudes toward marriage of participants who are not interested in with disabled sibling?s education (p<0.05). ? Attitudes toward marriage of participants were detected to be more positive when number of people who are taking care and isterested in education with disability sibling is more (p<0.05). ? Between attitudes toward marriage of participants and age group, education level, disability sibling?s gender, disability sibling?s disability type, family?s salary, sibling number of participants were not observed statistical significant relationship (p>0,05).
