Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study is to gain insights into the English language teachers' perspectives towards blended learning in English language teaching. While exploring English language teachers' perspectives towards blended learning in English language teaching, two different areas were examined. These areas are: (a) English Language Teachers' perceptions towards the contribution of blended learning in English Language Teaching, (b) the teachers' perceived barriers that affect the adaptation of blended learning in English Language Teaching. In order to reach the aim, 60 English Language Teachers who work at different public primary, secondary or high schools in Batman participated in the study. A three-part questionnaire was used to collect the data of the study. The data collected from the questionnaire was subjected to descriptive analysis. The findings indicated that most of the teachers think blended learning might affect English language teaching in positive way. According to their perspectives, blended learning provides learners the opportunity to learn English inside or outside their classrooms whenever and wherever they want via the Internet and media resources such as videos and audios. Moreover, with the help of technological opportunities, not only teachers' but also learners' skills on using technology improve and they can communicate each other effectively outside or inside their classrooms. Yet, it was also found that English language teachers believe there might be some barriers that affect the adaptation of blended learning in English language teaching. According to teachers, they do not have enough technological equipment and strong Internet network at schools. Moreover, even at some schools, there are not any computers and Internet network. Another perceived negative factor is that the learners and the teachers do not have sufficient experiences in using technology. Keywords: Blended Learning, English Language Teaching.
