Abstract (EN)

Enhancing concrete dam structure is a main target to improve dams performance against various stresses reflection and deformation. Utilizing HDPE (high-density polyethylene) protects and improves reinforced dam concrete strength and reduce the weight of total concrete with enhances the foundation performance and cost. The experimental work was carriedout using a model of concrete dam to study response and resistance against subjected overflow effect. The laboratory experimental program marked as two groups; the simulation tests specify Koyna Dam as a sample for validation, and extend the study to investigate three different types of dams with different sizes. The recent research results indicate that the HDPE with a percentage of 5%, size (5*20) mm and fc 25 has a significant improvement on the behavior of concrete under the same conditions, also in general the shear strength improved with respect to HDPE and the results observed more concrete ability with it. Finally, HDPE presents a superior results interms of concrete mechanical characteristic in all dams crest heights
