Abstract (EN)

Urinary tract infections have become common and a major health concern. It can be dangerous if left untreated, as it can damage the kidneys and can cause kidney failure in very large proportions or spread to the bloodstream. After isolating and diagnosing 300 urine samples from patients with urinary tract infections at Al-Hussein Teaching Hospital, Maternity and Children teaching Hospital in Muthanna . 160 Escherichia coli, 38 Klebsiella pneumonia, 9 Proteus mirabilis, 15 Pseudomonas aeruginosa and 5 Salmonella Enterica isolates were obtained by microscopy and biochemical tests. 15 different antibiotics were tested for E. coli 50 of the E. coli strains showed the highest rates of resistance to Amoxicillin. 15 isolates of P.aeruginosa were resistant to 9 different antibiotics Amoxicilline, Trimethoprim, Sulfamethoxazole, Azithromycin, Ampicillin, Nitrofurantoin, Vancomycin, Rifampin and Tetracycline. Enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus (ERIC) PCR technique was used to distinguish between different types of the 5 strains of each of E. coli, K. pneumonia, P.aeruginosa, P.mirabilis and S. Enterica.
