Abstract (EN)
The relationship between the Gut-Brain Axis (GBA) and epilepsy has been under preclinical investigation for some time. Clinical studies in this regard are limited. The significant role of GBA in the pathophysiology of Functional Gastrointestinal System (FGIS) is acknowledged. Additionally, recent research has focused on the association of GBA with the development and progression of neuropsychiatric disorders such as anxiety, depression, and alexithymia. The interaction between circadian rhythms and epilepsy, as well as the connections between FGIS disorders, psychological conditions, and sleep issues, have also been studied independently. Our study aims to investigate the co-occurrence of these four conditions in adults.
