Abstract (EN)

Aim: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the indications and outcomes of patients who underwent Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP) without transplantation. Material and Methods: All patients who was admitted in Inonu University Turgut Özal Medical Center with clinical, laboratory, radiologically cholestatic findings and having undergone ERCP between 2009 and 2015 were evaluated retrospectively. Findings: The mean age of 890 patients included in our study was 62.63 ± 18.46. Of the patients, 391 (% 43.9) were male and 499 (% 56.1) were female. When we looked at the patients, it was determined that intrahepatic bile ducts were normal in 273 (% 30,7) patients and 527 (% 59,2) patients had dilated intrahepatic bile ducts. When we looked at choledochal diameter ultrasonographically, mean choledochal diameter was found to be 11.77 ± 4.04 mm. It was determined that 55 (% 6.2) patients had normal and 553 (% 62.1) patients had dilated choledochal diameter when we classified patients with a diameter of 7 mm or less as normal and those with a diameter of upper 7 mm as dilated. When we looked at patients' symptoms, 734 (% 82,5) patients described abdominal pain, 62 (% 6,9) patients described nausea and 13 (% 1,5) patients described jaundice. After ERCP procedure, 589 (% 66.2) persons were diagnosed as choledocholithiasis, 156 (% 17.5) persons were malignancy, 37 (% 4.2) persons were stricture, 30 (% 3.4) persons were biliary leakage, 23 (% 2,6) were normal, 6 (% 0.7) were primary sclerosing cholangitis, 2 (% 0.2) were caroli disease, 2 (% 0.2) were hydatid cyst and 1 (% 0.1) was fasciola hepatica. When we look at the difference in choledochal diameters in patients grouped according to dilatation in intrahepatic biliary ducts, choledochal diameters of patients with dilated intrahepatic biliary ducts were found to increase statistically significantly. Results: This study has shown the importance of ERCP procedure and it is a method that should be prefered in appropriate indications because it offers the possibility of simultaneous treatment with diagnosis of bile duct-related diseases. Key Words: ERCP, Choledochus, Choledocholithiasis
