Abstract (EN)

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common urological disease, especially organic impotence; is a serious health problem which seriously affects patients both in terms of quality of life and psychosocially. The etiology of the current situation is still not fully elucidated. It is thought to be explained by the factors involved in the etiology of erectile dysfunction; would open up new epochs in the early diagnosis and treatment of disease. Evidence of the association between oxidative stress and ED is insufficient; however, an increasing number of studies have reported the relationship of an imbalance between the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and body antioxidant defenses in ED pathogenesis. Many tests have been developed to demonstrate the etiology in erectile dysfunction. Thiol oxidative stress test is one of the methods use in the recent years to determine the role of oxidative stress in the etiology of erectile dysfunction. While this double-sided balance can only be measured on one side since 1979, the new method developed by Erel & Neşelioğlu can be used to measure both variables separately and collectively and evaluate them both individually and integrally. Thiol-Disulfide Homeostasis; has a vital importance. The etiology of erectile dysfunction was tried to be explained by using other oxidative parameters; however, the effect of oxidative stress in plasma has not been investigated by using this new test in ED patients. For this reason, oxidative / antioxidative balance in patients with erectile dysfunction was investigated with Thiol- Disulfide Homeostasis test.
