Abstract (EN)

In this study the relationships between invalidating childhood environment, disordered eating attitudes and emotion regulation strategies have been investigated. The mediating role of emotion regulation strategies in the relationship between invalidating childhood environment and disordered eating attitude was examined. The sample of the study consisted of 317 non-clinical volunteers aged 14-18. Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q), Invalidating Childhood Environments Scale (ICES) and The Regulation of Emotions Questionnaire-REQ were used as data collection tools. Simple Mediator Analyses was conducted in order to evaluate the mediating role of emotion regulation strategies. According to the results of the correlation analysis of the study, it was determined that disordered eating attitudes were positively correlated with invalidating childhood environment and emotion regulation strategies. The results indicated that dysfunctional emotion regulation strategies have a mediator role in the relationship between invalidating childhood environment and disordered eating attitudes. The details of the findings obtained from the research were discussed within the scope of related literature.
