Relationship between religion tendencies and risk behaviors in adolescence

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between religious tendency and risky behaviors during adolescence. In this study, according to the independent variables of religious disposition and risky behavior levels of adolescents attending secondary education, gender, grade level, academic achievement level, educational institution, parental education level, socio-economic level, parental attitude and parental religiosity level It is aimed to determine whether it differs significantly. The population of the study consists of secondary school students attending education in 2018-2019 academic year in Diyarbakır. The sample group of the study consisted of 448 students selected by random sampling among the students attending secondary education in the central districts of Diyarbakır. Research; "Personal Information Form" applied to students, "Risk Taking Scale in Adolescents "(Kıran, 2002) and "Religiosity Tendency Scale" (Elmas, 2017). SPSS 22.0 statistical package program was used to analyze the data. Data are summarized by giving mean, standard deviation, percentage and frequencies. In order to determine the difference between the groups, t-test and Anova test were used in independent groups. Pearson correlation analysis was used to test the significance level of the relationship between students' religiosity and risk behaviors. In this study, the error level was taken as 0.05. In our study, a significant relationship was found in terms of piety in terms of gender, educational institution, class level, course achievement level, mother education level, father education level, socio-economic level and parental religiosity attitude. However, there was no significant relationship between religious attitudes towards parental attitudes. In adolescence, a significant relationship was found in risky behaviors in terms of gender, educational institution, class level, father education level and parental religiosity attitude. However, no significant relationship was found in risky behaviors in terms of course achievement level, mother education level, socio-economic level and parental attitude.
