Özet (EN)

Objective: There are Sluggish Cognitive Tempo (SCT) assessment tools used in children and adolescents in our country; there is, however, no measurement tool that can be used in adults. This study aims to adapt the Adult Concentration Inventory (ACI) into Turkish, and to investigate its validity and reliability. Materials & Methods: 637 participants aged between 18-30, being university students or university graduates, reached through online communication instruments, were included in the study. Sociodemographic Data Form, Adult Concentration Inventory, Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Self-Report Scale, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21, Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, UCLA Loneliness Scale, and SF-36 Quality of Life Scale were administered to the participants. The adaptation of ACI to Turkish was carried out by translation and back-translation method. The reliability of the scale was investigated by Cronbach's Alpha coefficient, inter-item correlations, item-total score correlations, split-half reliability, and test-retest reliability. Then, the validity of the scale was investigated by conducting content, construct, and criterion validity analyzes. Content validity by a panel of experts, construct validity with explanatory and confirmatory factor analyses, and criterion validity was investigated with concurrent validity. Finally, the correlations between the descriptive characteristics of the participants and the total mean scores of ACI were examined. Results: Cronbach's Alpha coefficient was 0.896; the inter-item correlations values ranged from 0.121 to 0.716; item-total score correlations were between 0.375 and 0.753; the Spearman-Brown coefficient was 0.88, the Guttman Split-Half coefficient was 0.88, and the test-retest reliability coefficient was 0.85. The content validity index was 0.81 for the sixth item of the ACI and 1 for the remaining 15 items. As a result of EFA, a three-factor structure with eigenvalues greater than one and explaining 56.191% of the total variance was obtained. Both the three-dimensional structure obtained in EFA and the one-dimensional structure presented in the original study of the ACI were confirmed by CFA. Conclusion: The Turkish version of the ACI is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to evaluate SCT symptoms in adults. Keywords: Sluggish cognitive tempo, adult concentration inventory, validity, reliability
