Abstract (EN)

In this study, we aimed to examine the relationship between narcissistic personality traits, attachment styles and temperament and character dimensions. The sample of the study was composed of 424 adults living in Turkey. In the research, besides the sociodemographic information form, Narcissistic Personality Inventory, Relationship Scales Questionnaire and Temperament and Character Inventory-Revised Form were used. A negative and statistically significant correlation were found between total NPI scores and Harm Avoidance (r=-0.290, p<0.01) and Cooperativeness (r=-0.376, p<0.01). There was a positive and significant correlation between total NPI and Persistance dimension (r=0.234, p<0.01). Moreover, total NPI scores were also positively correlated with secure attachment (r= 0.131, p<0.05). It was seen that Harm Avoidance, Persistence, Self-Directedness and Cooperativeness dimensions of TCI-R and secure attachment style statistically predicted the total score of the NPI. Accordingly, it was found that there is a significant relationship between narcissistic personality characteristics and attachment styles and temperament and character dimensions.
