Abstract (EN)

Physical exercise is considered the mainstream of lifestyle change that support cardiorespiratory fitness and positively affect various cardiovascular risk factors. Although there is evidence that vigorous endurance exercise provides beneficial health effects, the stress placed on the cardiopulmonary system is extremely high. α-CGRP has been extensively studied in various cardiovascular diseases and has been supported to have a protective effect. In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between α-CGRP and biochemical stress markers developed in individuals who do heavy endurance exercises such as marathon running. Full-distance master marathon runners (n=18), regular moderate-intensity exercisers (n=22), and sedentary individuals (n=19) who did not do any sports were included in the study. Exercise stress test was applied to all volunteers and blood samples were taken. In blood samples, cardiovascular risk, muscle damage, oxidative stress biomarkers and α-CGRP levels were examined. As a result, after the exercise stress test, it was observed that acute α CGRP level and some oxidative stress parameters increased significantly in all groups. Compared to the other groups, Proteincarbonile was significantly higher after the exercise stress test in marathon runners. Dynamic thiol disulfide parameters were found to be significantly higher in the marathon group compared to the other groups in favor of thiols. Muscle damage parameters were found to be lower in the MM group compared to the other groups. As a result, although the cardiopulmonary system is under pressure in marathon runners, the benefits of exercise play more important role in the pathophysiology of the cardiovascular system by balancing biochemical risk parameters and oxidative stress that occur as a result of developing cardiovascular adaptations, increased α-CGRP and antioxidant thiol groups.
