Abstract (EN)
Objective: Sexuality is the union in which both women and men should derive pleasure. The functionality of men in this regard can be perceived by women as normal or impaired. Sometimes, even if the erectile function is normal in men and their partners are satisfied with their sexual life, individuals may consider themselves inadequate for different reasons, or conversely, the partners of men with normal erectile function may not be satisfied with their sexual life. The main goal of our study is to determine the consistency or inconsistency in the assessment of erectile function in men by both men and women. Materials and Methods: 36 male patients aged between 18-75 who applied to Manisa Celal Bayar University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Urology with complaints of erectile dysfunction and their partners were included between January 2023 and September 2023. The preliminary diagnosis of erectile dysfunction was made based on clinical findings, laboratory findings, IIEF score, and radiological assistance. Results: It was found that there was a significant difference in the average scores of sexual desire between male and female groups in the IIEF form sub-dimensions, with the average scores of men being higher than those of women. There was no significant difference in the average scores of erectile function, orgasmic function, sexual satisfaction, and general satisfaction between male and female groups in the sub-dimensions of the international index of erectile function. Conclusion: It is important to adopt a multidisciplinary approach in evaluating the patient's complaint and sexual function, taking into account not only the individual's own experiences but also the effects and experiences of the partner on sexual function disorders. In this context, it is important for couples to be evaluated together in clinical practice and treatment plans to be established. There is a need for further research in this regard.
