The companion between the attachment characterisricts of individuals who grew up with a parent who has bipolar disorder and the attachment characterisricts of individuals who grew up a with parent who has non- bipolar disorder in their early chilhood.

The aim of this search is to examine the effect of having bipolar affective disordered parents over the depression attachment styles. This study analyzes the role of having bipolar affective disordered parents on the attachment styles. Descriptive and relational survey models were preferred as research methods. While the independent variables of the study are demographic variables; the dependent variable is the attachment styles. The data of the study were collected via Personal Information Form and Adult Attachment Style Scale. During the analysis process of acquired data Independent-Samples T-Test were applied in terms of deductive statistics. FİNDİNGS The study was conducted on 140 people in total (70 who have parents withbipolar affective disorder and 70 who have normal parents) whose age range is 18-55 and average age is 27. The findings of the analysis can be summed up as following: It is found out that avoidant and anxious/ambivalent attachment of people differs in a reasonable way depending on whether bipolar affective disordered parents or not (p<0,05). It is found out that avoidant and anxious/ambivalent attachment of people differs in a reasonable way depending on martial status, parents martial status, whether having a sibling or not, whether having a chronic illness or not, mothers education level (p<0,05). It is found out that secure attachment of people differs in a reasonable way depending onwhether having a sibling or not (p<0,05). RESULT It is found out that single people have who bipolar affective disordered parents tend to have higher avoidant attachment (x=2,8) and anxious/ambivalent attachment (x=2,7) level than married people who have bipolar affective disordered parents (in order x=2,2, x=2,2) while married people who have bipolar affective disordered parents tend to have higher secure attachment (x=2,7) level than single people who have bipolar affective disordered parents (x=2,2). It is found out that people who have bipolar affective disordered parents tend to have higher avoidant attachment (x=2,7) level than people who have normal parents (x=2,3). It is found out that people who have bipolar affective disordered parents tend to have higher anxious/ambivalent attachment (x=2,6) level than people who have normal parents (x=2,3).
