Abstract (EN)
In this study, the activities of Sümerbank covering the years of establishment and development are examined on the basis of modernization theory. Economic, political and social transformations that are the source of the development of Sümerbank along with the structural and ideological heritage taken over will be handled within the perspective of modernization. Afterwards, institutional and structural transformation associated with industrialization in the Ottoman Empire and Turkey in economic history has been revealed. The ideological framework, which is the source of industrialization, has been tried to be conveyed by examining the views of Statism and National Economics. In addition to being an economic institution, Sümerbank's socio-economic outputs and the externalities it provides have been put forward as a historical study. And the modernizing features of Sümerbank, which is a modern institution, have been demonstrated.
