Investigation for determination of Erzincan province music talent map

Education programs aim to provide individuals with general culture, social behaviors and vocational skills. The aim is to make the person happy in both education and life. This can be achieved by placing each individual in the appropriate curriculum for his / her ability. Based on this, we can say that their ability levels and types should be known in order to understand in advance how the students can benefit from their skills in educational programs. In this study, a musical talent test was applied to 270 students aged 13/15 who continue their education in the center and districts of Erzincan in the 2017-2018 Academic Year. The questions of the musical talent test were created by the researcher considering the musical hearing, rhythmic memory, melodic memory, musical singing and playing criteria found in the examination instructions prepared by the Ministry of National Education for the entrance exam of the music department of Fine Arts High Schools. The scores of the answers to the musical talent test were made according to the Fine Arts High School Music Talent Test Assessment Criteria determined by the Ministry of National Education. Expert evaluation forms were prepared for the evaluation of prepared questions and the responses to the musical talent test and presented to the opinion of three field experts. After the feedback from the field experts, the data were entered into the SPSS program. In the centers and districts of Erzincan province, charts and tables showing the talent status of the participants who participated in the test according to the criteria of musical hearing, rhythmic memory, melodic memory, musical singing and playing were formed. According to the obtained results, the score of Erzincan Province Music Talent Map has been reached from top to bottom as Merkez, Tercan, Kemah, İliç, Kemaliye, Refahiye, Üzümlü Otlukbeli and Çayırlı. The research will gain importance in terms of determining the more talented students in the district of Erzincan and what kind of school they attend in terms of their musical talent status.
