Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACT Evaluation of Brucellosis İncidence by Considering Geographical Characteristics, Age, Gender and Direct Contact of Animals in Erzincan Mengücek Gazi Training and Research Hospital between 2012-2016 Introduction and aim Brucella, a zoonotic disease caused by micro-organisms, is infectious in humans and animals. Contamination from animals is involved directly or indirectly in all cases. The disease is more frequently seen in people who has more risky jobs and professions like; people in contact with animals, veterinarians, laboratory workers, veterinary technicians, butchers, animal breeders, milk product establishment workers, etc.and the people who eat untreated milk and milk products. In veterinary and veterinary technicians, infection is mostly seen due to contamination of infectious secretion and professional contact about their jobs, at the other hand injuries due to sharp penetrating tools are also seen. Occasional cases of involuntary inoculation of Brucella vaccine have also been reported. The most important transmission route for non-occupational brucellosis is the consumption of untreated milk and milk products. In this study; We determine the brucellosis appearance disorder in Erzincan Mengücek Gazi Training and Research Hospital with cases between 2012-2016 and aimed to add this subject to literature which does not have a sample study in this region by associating the cases with geographical distribution, age, gender and direct contact of animals. Material and method The content of this study contains the cases of brucellosis in Erzincan Mengücek Gazi Training and Research Hospital between the years 2012-2016. The research was conducted retrospectively by scanning the results of 31727 samples from the information automation system of the microbiology laboratory of Erzincan Mengücek Gazi Training and Research Hospital between these dates. With the laboratory information system we evaluated and interpreted Rose Bengal, Serum Agglutination and Immun Capture test results, the area patients from, time of admission to the hospital, age, sex, and direct contact with animals. (Food, Agriculture and Livestock Provincial Directorate, Livestock Information System). Results In literatüre it has been reported that the cases increases in the spring season. In Erzincan province, it is determined that this increase is in the winter season. It is estimated that the incidence in the winter season in Erzincan province is because of the increase in abortions in November and December, the milking of these animals until September and the consumption of milk products obtained there. In our region the rate of brucellosis cases in animal breeders of the positive cases is similar to the rate of the cases in animal breeders of the other people. Conclusion As a result, the use of non-heat treated milk and dairy products in the etiology of brucellosis of our region is at the forefront. Key words: Brucellosis, Retrospective, Risk, Frequency
