Abstract (EN)

This study has been prepared in order to compare the vocabulary of the Old Turkish Inscriptions and the modern Northwest (Kipchak) Turkish dialects and to identify the words that continue to exist and those that do not. The study consists of three main parts: introduction, review and conclusion. The introduction section includes the method of the study preparation, it's limitations, the list of the examined texts of the Old Turkish inscriptions with runic letters and general information about the Old Turkish incriptions and modern Nortwest Turkish dialects. In addition, in the introduction, the list of studies in which the vocabulary of Old Turkish Inscriptions are compared with the vocabulary of modern Turkish dialects is given. In the review section; By searching the Old Turkish words, which are given with the inscription and line numbers in which they are placed, in the dictionaries of modern Northwest Turkish dialects words that survive or do not exist today have been determined. The available forms and meanings of the surviving words in dialects have been demonstrated. The opinions of Turcologists have been asked for the words that are uncertain whether they are a continuation of an archaic word or not. Furthermore, various etymological, morphological and semantic explanations have been made in some words that thought essential necessary and suggestions have been presented. The conclusion part includes the statistical information and evaluations on the words compared; the words that undergone semantic contraction, expansion and change. Besides, there is a table in which the Old Turkish words which exist in at least one dialect, have been shown together with their forms in the dialects.
