Abstract (EN)

Humankind has been struggling with many natural disasters from past to present. The leading disaster among others are earthquakes. Earthquakes cause negative effects on the living and non-living assets in the areas where they occur and in the areas of their influence. The effective distance of the earthquake waves after the earthquakes vary mostly according to the magnitude of the earthquake. The impact distances of large earthquakes are greater than those of small earthquakes. The effects of earthquakes to the buildings are related to the resistance of the building to the earthquake waves. Therefore, the design of the buildings according to the possible earthquake hazard could save the buildings from collapsing during an earthquake event. The severity of the earthquake hazard varies locally due to parameters such as distance from the fault, location of and the activity of the faults. For this reason, the earthquake hazard should be determined locally and the structures should be designed according to this earthquake hazard. Seismic Hazard Analyzes are carried out by using locations of the earthquakes occurred in the past, active fault lengths and their maximum earthquake magnitude which could produce. In this study, Seismic Hazard Mapping for Eskişehir Province was made by using Geographical Information Systems and the data of earthquakes occurred in Eskişehir and its surroundings from 1900 to 2018 which are larger than 4,5 in magnitude.
