The effect of attachment styles of spouses on marital adjustment

All marital relationships have different dynamics within themselves, and couples display different behavioral patterns in their marital relationship. Studies have shown that the relationships individuals establish with their caregivers and caregivers in their infancy have an impact on their romantic relationships with future ages and, therefore, on their marital relationships, and therefore attachment theory constitutes an important framework for understanding and explaining the relationship patterns of couples. Accordingly, the attachment types individuals have significantly affect the cognitive emotional and behavioral responses of the person in a romantic relationship. The restraint styles, which are among the personal variables that affect marital adjustment, depend on the relationship individuals establish with their mothers in their first childhood years. The attachment style possesses has a determining role in the bilateral relationships it creates in adult life. How married couples deal with the problems they face in their lives and how they approach this problem is an important cognitive process, but also affects marital adjustment. In this respect, the relationship between attachment styles of marital adjustment in married couples was investigated in this study. The study was carried out using the quantitative research method, which is a research method in which observations and measurement methods can be repeated and are carried out by means of numerical research. The research was carried out with the scanning method, which is one of the quantitative research techniques. In the study, which examined the relationship between individuals' marital adjustment levels and attachment styles, 300 people participated in the sample of Düzce province Merkez and Akçakoca districts. Within the framework of the hypotheses tested in the study, the relationship between marital adjustment levels and attachment styles and the differences in the opinions stated in the life inventory in the close relationships in which the marital adjustment levels and attachment styles of the individuals were measured according to the socio-demographic characteristics were examined.
